W
W3C [World Wide Web Consortium] − Established in October 1994 to lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing common protocols that promote its evolution and ensure its interoperability.
WAN (Wide Area Network) - Computers connected together in a wide network, larger than a LAN, usually connected via phone lines.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) - A leading standard for information services on wireless terminals like digital mobile phones.
Web Document - A document formatted for distribution over the web. Most often a web document is formatted in a markup language like HTML or XML.
Web Design - Selection and coordination of available components to create the layout and structure of a Web page.
Webpage - One HTML document accessible form the World Wide Web. A page on a website.
Website - A collection of web pages linked together on a single topic or business accessible from the WWW.
Wildcard - A character used to substitute any character(s). Most often used as an asterix (*) in search tools.
WML (Wireless Markup Language) - A standard for information services on wireless terminals like digital mobile phones, inherited from HTML, but based on XML, and much stricter than HTML.
WWW [World Wide Web] - Is a way of accessing information over the medium of the Internet. Browsers, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape are utilized to access the vast collection of interconnected documents on the web.
